With Google Home I can program a custom command such as "OK Google, pause show" and it will run the command on my Google Home: "Ask trigger command to pause show on tv computer". Trigger command then runs a simple batch file that presses the space bar and pauses the show.

Is there a way to do this with Alexa? I've tried the Alexa Blueprints Q&A and when instead of Alexa executing "Ask trigger command to show on tv computer" she simply responds with that message.

I know I can say "Alexa ask trigger command to pause show on tv" but that is much longer than just "pause show".

    Any suggestions?

@meyerdenney, I use an Alexa "Routine" to open my garage with "Alexa, open sesame", but it depends on my SmartThings system. That works because routines work with Smart Home systems.

Otherwise, I don't know of a way to do that with Alexa. I wish Alexa had something like Google Assistant's "routines" (they used to be called "shortcuts").
